Maybe it’s my school, my oh-so-business-focused small college, but in preparation for this summer, I kind of had a heart attack. Everyone was looking for an internship, and the only stories that stuck in my head were the successes: internship with Citibank, internship with marketing firm, interning with such-and-such-major-company.
All of this commotion and happiness surrounding the acquisition of an internship really started to freak me out, because I didn’t end up getting one. didn’t even get responses for my applications. Damn you companies. Even though a lot of my friends are just doing summer jobs too, I still freaked out over not having that “perfect internship that will boost my resume up.” After this post, I feel a whole lot better. Even though I don’t know Carly, it’s nice to see another business student decide to take the traditional path, and focus on enjoying life, and figuring out what she wants to do before she graduates.
Now that I can stop hyperventilating, I have realized my summer plans are actually okay. I actually ended up getting an internship, part-time at this sick start-up magazine, Chop Chop, and part-time working at this office at school. I’m learning a lot, and I have free time to enjoy summer, so it’s all going to oookay.
